Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Oracle APEX and Database Administrator to support and enhance enterprise database platforms and Oracle APEX application environments. This role will be responsible for the design, administration, performance optimization, and lifecycle management of Oracle databases and APEX/ORDS platforms supporting critical business applications. The successful candidate will work closely with DBA, middleware, and application teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems across development, QA, and production environments. Key Responsibilities Oracle Database Administration Manage and maintain Oracle databases (19c and newer) across multiple environments Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations Implement backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutions Monitor database performance and tune SQL, memory, and storage Manage database security, roles, and access controls Support PDB/CDB architecture, and database consolidation strategies Oracle APEX / ORDS Administration Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle APEX and ORDS environments Manage APEX schemas, users, and workspace configurations Support APEX application deployments and lifecycle management Troubleshoot APEX performance, session management, and runtime issues Configure ORDS connections, pools, and security integration Support integration between APEX and enterprise systems (e.g., APIs, EBS, middleware) Environment & Infrastructure Management Manage multi-environment setups (DEV, QA, PROD) Support WebLogic or application server configurations for APEX/ORDS Coordinate database and application upgrades with cross-functional teams Maintain environment consistency and deployment standards Support capacity planning and performance testing initiatives Operational Support & Troubleshooting Provide Tier 3 support for database and APEX incidents Troubleshoot complex issues including: Database performance degradation APEX application errors ORDS connectivity and configuration issues Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues Participate in on-call rotations and incident response Automation & Process Improvement Develop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenance Improve DBA operational processes and documentation Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deployments Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL is nice to have Additional Responsibilities Develop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenance Improve DBA operational processes and documentation Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deployments Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements Originally posted on Himalayas
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Deep knowledge of Oracle Database Administration, including design, performance optimization, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with Oracle APEX and ORDS, including configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of database security, roles, and access controls, as well as PDB/CDB architecture and database consolidation strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including DBA, middleware, and application teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience in troubleshooting complex issues and resolving system health and performance issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with automation tools, such as Ansible or Terraform, and a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of security and audit requirements, with experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
