The DrillOps Field Deployment Lead is comfortable in the rig environment and has advanced knowledge and access to the IT infrastructure at the wellsite. The DrillOps Field Deployment Lead is essentially responsible for the rig-IT infrastructure and software updates, IT equipment inventory control, data management and communication between rig site and any remote center. This person is a basic user of the data acquisition/core and services elements of the wellsite execution systems. The DrillOps Field Deployment Lead needs to understand town-based Orchestra & Prism systems. This role is critical in ensuring that the drilling operations run smoothly and efficiently, thus minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
In addition to the core responsibilities, the DrillOps Field Deployment Lead plays a vital role in collaborating with various teams, including drilling engineers, geologists, and safety personnel, to enhance operational performance. They are also tasked with training rig personnel on IT systems and protocols, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the necessary skills to handle the technology effectively. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Lead must relay important information between the rig and the onshore team, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned with drilling objectives.
Some of the key skills and qualifications required for this role include:
- Establish and maintain data link to town and wellsite network.
- Manage user access / permissions.
- Troubleshoot of IT infrastructure, RCS and Coda systems, sensors and cabling and related problems. Manages IT equipment inventory.
- Re-start virtual machines.
- Conduct regular assessments of IT systems to identify potential improvements and implement best practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to drilling personnel on the use of IT systems and tools.
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and recommend upgrades or solutions that could benefit the rig operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all IT processes and systems.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including drilling engineers, geologists, and safety personnel.
- Collaborate with rig personnel to identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational performance.
- Design and implement training programs for rig personnel on IT systems and protocols, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the necessary skills to handle the technology effectively.
- Utilize data analytics and visualization tools to gain insights and make data-driven decisions.
- Work closely with the drilling team to identify and address any technical issues that may arise during operations.
- Develop and maintain documentation and procedures for IT systems and processes, ensuring that all personnel are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Participate in regular meetings with the drilling team to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in IT and drilling operations, and apply this knowledge to improve processes and systems.
- Collaborate with the IT team to identify and implement solutions for IT-related issues and improve the overall IT infrastructure.
