Job Responsibilities :
- Meet with clients to discuss the space that requires artwork, and must communicate effectively with clients throughout the consultation process, ensuring that all their needs and preferences are taken into account. This includes understanding their vision and providing expert recommendations based on their tastes and the intended ambiance of the space.
- May offer custom framing, allowing the artwork to flow perfectly in specific spaces, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the environment. This involves understanding the architectural features of the location and suggesting frame styles that complement the artwork and the existing decor.
- Install or place the artwork in such a way that it will achieve the overall look, mood, or feel that the client desires, taking into consideration factors such as lighting, color schemes, and spatial arrangements. This requires a keen eye for detail and an understanding of how different elements interact within a space.
- May be involved in art appraisal due to their expertise in the field of artwork, providing clients with valuable insights into the value and significance of various pieces. This aspect of the job not only helps clients make informed purchasing decisions but also builds trust and credibility in the relationship.
- Work closely with local, national and international galleries, as well as local artists and other reliable art sources in order to provide the best and most broad range of art possible for their clients, ensuring that they have access to a diverse selection of styles and mediums. This collaboration can lead to unique opportunities, such as exclusive exhibitions or bespoke art pieces.
- May commission artwork to be custom made for clients, or for special occasions, tailoring each piece to meet specific themes or personal stories that resonate with the client. This could involve collaborating with artists to create personalized pieces that reflect the client’s journey or significant milestones.
- Work with a variety of budgets and spaces, demonstrating flexibility and creativity to find solutions that satisfy both financial constraints and artistic desires. This skill is vital in ensuring that all clients feel valued and catered to, regardless of their budget.
- Must maintain good relationships with various artists, galleries, their managers and proprietors, fostering collaboration and ensuring a steady flow of new and exciting artwork options. Building a robust network within the art community not only enhances service delivery but also enriches the overall client experience.
- Must stay up to date with the newest trends in the art community, attending exhibitions and art fairs, and engaging with other professionals to stay informed about emerging talents and innovative styles. Continuous learning and adaptation are essential in this dynamic field to ensure clients receive the most current and relevant advice.
Education Requirement :
Masters in Arts Business or a related field, which provides a strong foundation in the principles of art management, marketing, and curation. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the art market and effectively navigating its challenges.
Experience Requirement :
- 6-8 years of experience in the art industry, including roles that involve client interaction, art curation, and project management. This experience is invaluable as it equips candidates with the necessary skills to handle diverse client needs and manage various art projects successfully.
